THE Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has expressed its relief that 1Malaysia Development Bhd’s business dealings and foreign investments were all done with reputable companies.
After spending four hours questioning 1MDB president and managing director Arul Kanda Kandasamy yesterday, the committee said it was satisfied with the answers provided so far.
“It was good as Arul gave full cooperation and gave us good answers,” said PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin to reporters after yesterday’s proceedings.
But, he added, Arul would be called up again on Dec 18, to provide more information to the PAC which is expected to complete its probe into 1MDB by March next year.
“We have to call Arul again to get some more information, so that we can give a fair and good report to Parliament,” he said.
Arul’s next appointment will take place a day after the Auditor-General’s Department presents its final report on 1MDB to the PAC on Dec 17.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Arul said he was asked various questions on the management of 1MDB from its inception until now.
“We gave the PAC our full cooperation.
“I have also been asked to come back for another session, and I will take the opportunity to further explain to the PAC,” he said.
Arul reiterated that the 1MDB establishment was committed to presenting its side of the story, adding that it would answer questions to the best of its ability.
