PAC to resume 1MDB hearing, to haul up Arul Kanda, Shahrol again

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will resume its hearing into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) by summoning the same personalities scheduled by the previous line-up, its chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin said today.

This includes calling up 1MDB boss Arul Kanda Kandasamy and former CEO Datuk Shahrol Halmi.

The dates are yet to be finalised, Hasan said.

“We will continue where they (previous PAC) left off, and we will call these individuals as witnesses. We will decide on the date soon,” he said.

But he said that controversial tycoon Low Taek Jho, also known as Jho Low, would be not on PAC’s priority list.

“We will call him, as a personality, but not a witness. We will put him in the list, but it’s not important right now,” he said.

Former 1MDB CEO and managing director Mohd Hazem Abd Rahman will be hauled up as part of the list, Hasan said.

He said the Auditor General’s (AG) report on 1MDB was expected to be finalised by the end of the year.

“The full report is still on schedule to be completed by the end of the year. “Today, for the new PAC members, we had another briefing on the AG’s interim report on 1MDB.” – November 2, 2015.
