The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has located former SRC International managing director Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil.
In a statement here yesterday, it said its personnel had recorded a statement from Nik Faisal.
“The MACC has recorded a statement from Nik Faisal on the investigations into SRC International and the RM2.6bil fund,” it said.
“With regards to two other individuals who are required by the commission to assist in the investigation, we have already contacted them and efforts are being made to meet them in due time to have their statement recorded.
“Thus, the MACC does not require the assistance of the police and Interpol to locate the individuals.”
It was reported that in a written reply to Wong Chen (PKR – Kelana Jaya) in the Dewan Rakyat, the Home Ministry had said the police were unable to trace the whereabouts of several individuals alleged to be involved in the 1MDB controversy.
The individuals are businessman Low Taek Jho – also known as Jho Low – Casey Tang, Jasmine Loo and Nik Faisal.
It was also reported that Bank Negara was investigating Tang and Loo under the Exchange Control Act 1953 and attempting to ascertain their whereabouts.
Tang was one of the founders of Terengganu Investment Authority (TIA), which later became 1MDB, while Loo reportedly joined 1MDB in 2011 to replace Tang.
Besides being the former managing director of SRC International, a company that was formerly a subsidiary of 1MDB, Nik Faisal was also chief investment officer of 1MDB.
