All answers on the RM2.6 billion donation into Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s accounts as well as those on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) will be answered in Parliament on Dec 3.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said the questions will be fielded on the last day of the current Dewan Rakyat sitting.
She said the answers will be given during the Question-and-Answer session, which is usually from 10am to 11.30pm.
Azalina said the answers might be provided by the relevant ministers. Asked on allegations that she was ‘guarding’ the prime minister from answering the questions, Azalina replied: “I am a lawyer. I hold on to the law and the law that guides Parliament. “It is either unfortunate or fortunate, I have read through Standing Order and realised that on asking questions, it can be decided on when to answer.
“There are a few hundred questions a day, we can do ten or twelve. The rest are turned into written answers,” she explained.
She said the Standing Order does not say that the questions must be answered on the day they are asked. “I interpret the Standing Order this way. The RM2.6 billion is asked in every question in every debate. If the prime minister answer today, there will be continuous questions. Accumulate and answers it on the last day, better?,” she said.
Azalina on Oct 21 had said the government will address all queries concerning the RM2.6 billion donation deposited into Najib personal account in Parliament during this sitting. She had said the question will be answered simultaneously with all other questions on the same issue at a date to be fixed in the current parliamentary meeting.
