The National Audit Department’s (JAN) final report on 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) has been delayed because information needs to be updated, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) said today.
PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Ariffin said the parliamentary committee, which was supposed to have received the report tomorrow, believed that the final audit report on 1MDB needed to be transparent, comprehensive and fair to ensure that the investigation of the state investment firm was truly thorough as demanded by Parliament and the public.
“The PAC is a bipartisan committee under Parliament as a legislative branch comprising MPs from BN (Barisan Nasional), DAP, PKR and PAS,” Hasan said in a statement.
“In line with that, the PAC believes that JAN needs to be given sufficient time to complete the final audit report on 1MDB so that when it’s complete, the Auditor-General can present the report to the PAC.
“In the meantime, 1MDB proceedings involving Arul Kanda will be continued on December 18 2015, this Friday, as scheduled. After that, the PAC will call up 1MDB chairman Tan Sri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin in two weeks’ time after December 18, 2015,” he added, referring to current 1MDB group executive director Arul Kanda Kandasamy.
